I was reading a post on Linkedin about HDR.  Someone posted, “I don’t like HDR because it looks like a cartoon.”  I almost replied, “I like HDR because it looks like a cartoon.” First of all, the person who posted that has no clue how many HDR images he has seen.  In most applications it looks quite natural and is used in difficult lighting situations.  Secondly I like the images he refers to that look like cartoons.  Why does everything have to be realistic?

I went to Orenco Station recently. Orenco is actually Oregon Nursery Company.  It is a company town that was eventually absorbed by Hillboro, OR.

This image of the old church is actually not HDR.  I composited several images to get the entire tower, and I used warp and perspective transformation to straighten it.  Then I just went crazy with the color.  I like the effect my tweaking had on the clouds.
