A Pretty Bug

Butterfly at the Oregon Zoo

In 2007 I had a membership to the Oregon Zoo.  One of the exhibits is the butterfly house.  I can only very seldom get good shots of a butterfly in the wild.  The butterfly house enabled me to see a lot of beautiful specimens up close and personal.  Go on a cool day in the late summer.  They tend to move slower.

Duck, Duck….

This is from the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden in Portland, Oregon.  I made a version of this with very saturated colors.  This version appeals to me more.  These ducks are very commonplace.  You know what color they are.

Plastic in the Fountain

On my way to the library I came upon this bottle in the fountain.  Recycling and trash cans were only about 10 feet away.

The recycling rate remains steady at around 27 percent.

I got my information from this website.

Over the Willamette

In Portland, Oregon there are many ways to cross the Willamette River.  One of the cities nicknames is Bridgetown.  There are something like 10 bridges that cross the river in the PDX area.  I think that the prettiest and most architecturally interesting bridge is The St John’s Bridge.  According to Wikipedia It is the only suspension bridge in the Willamette Valley and the furthest north on the Willamette River.  It was opened June 13, 1931.

Square Photographs

I’m enamored with Instagram since I got my new tablet.  I guess I like crappy little square photos.  Now I can make crappy little square photos too.  I like the constraints and the spontaneity of the photos I see there.

Window to the Soul

I like the effect of this.  The toning reminds me of a photo taken in the 1920’s.  I can assure you… this is not what my eyes actually looks like.  This is what I wish my eyes looked like.  Click on the image to make it larger.

Part of what I did here I learned from Fay Sirkis at Photoshop World a few years ago.

Alexander Skarsgård

Drawing of Alexander Skarsgård

I’ve been watching a lot of True Blood lately and I made this drawing during my spare time at work.  For those you who have not noticed, Alexander Skarsgård is beautiful to look at.  This work doesn’t do him justice.  Once must see him in action to know what I mean.  Even in photographs his beauty doesn’t truly emerge.  You can click on the image to make it larger.

The Magic Spoon

Bruce has a special mix of unicorn milk he uses for his lattes.  It requires a special spoon to be mixed properly.

Bruce mixes a very special latte

If you go to the Beaverton Farmer’s Market on Saturdays, you may recognize this spoon.  Visit the Pony Espresso to get a great cup of joe from a great guy.

I created the steam with this tutorial.  I had hair brushes that I messed with to get the unicorn milk.

Funiture Design

Quite a while ago I used my tax money to buy a TV.  My previous TV was bought a Goodwill for $9.99.  Now that I had this shiny new black rectangle in my living-room I thought it needed something proper to sit upon.  With the help of my friend Neal, we designed and put together this oval TV stand.  We built it some time on 2010 and I just painted it yesterday.
