Pretty Trash – I’m fairly certain I took this on Morrison St in downtown Portland – December 2017
In January of 2007 I was walking on the Esplanade in Portland Oregon. I took this photo of the Steel Bridge with a 3 mp cell phone. I liked the image but it was dull and flat. If you must know, the Steel Bridge is a through truss, double lift bridge across the Willamette River. It was built in 1912. The image below will show you why I needed to “shop” this image.
Sometimes I dwell on a little fantasy. I was thinking of what my dream kitchen would look like and I came up with a color scheme. Now I may change my mind tomorrow, but right now I am enamored with the color orange. Orange, White, Yellow and Red are hot kitchen colors. Click on the image to enlarge it.
I used to dread autumn when I lived in Buffalo. When the leaves changed color it meant that winter was coming soon, along with the snow. Winter in western NY was bleak and it lasted even longer with the ice boom. For those of you who do not know, in the spring the ice breaks up and starts flowing down the Niagara River. To prevent the ice from blocking up the intakes for the Niagara power station, a boom was placed across the mouth of the river. Because the ice remains on Lake Erie, it extends winter in Buffalo. Oh, how I hated the winter in Buffalo.
Now I’m in Oregon. I like the fall with all its wonderful colors. This image was taken in Orenco Station and it is a composite of many images. I couldn’t get the tree in one photograph. Click on the image to get the full view.
