The last time I saw my father he was dying of emphysema. It was two years before he actually passed. The last thing he said to me was, “Please don’t forget me, Kymm”. Of course how could a person forget their father. This is my favorite image of the two of us together. This is how I like to remember him. He was healthy and happy. In 1970 we were living in Gulfport, Florida.
I was going through some old photos and came across this gem. This is Larry Fordham. He used to be my mechanic when I lived in Largo, Florida. He was a good mechanic. You just had to get to him before he started drinking. Even though his life was shit, I always remember him smiling. Maybe he found the secret to happiness.
I took this image back in March in 1997 in Lakeland, Florida. This little boy is like 17 or 18 years old now. I don’t remember his name. All I know is that his father’s name is Mike and he was a friend of a friend. I wonder what has become of him. I played around with the image in Photoframe 4.6, Viveza 2 and Perfect Effects software. I like the grungy look to it. It seems to fit his defiant stance.
