On October 19th 2016 there was a “gas” explosion on 23rd st in Portland. At least that is what they want you to believe.

World War Eye Eye

I enjoy having fun with old images.  The original is just a pair of German soldiers.  The restoration is a pair of Matthew Grey Gublers.  He’s one of the actors in Criminal Minds.

Duck, Duck….

This is from the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden in Portland, Oregon.  I made a version of this with very saturated colors.  This version appeals to me more.  These ducks are very commonplace.  You know what color they are.

I like the effect of this.  The toning reminds me of a photo taken in the 1920’s.  I can assure you… this is not what my eyes actually looks like.  This is what I wish my eyes looked like.  Click on the image to make it larger.

Part of what I did here I learned from Fay Sirkis at Photoshop World a few years ago.

Alexander Skarsgård

Drawing of Alexander Skarsgård

I’ve been watching a lot of True Blood lately and I made this drawing during my spare time at work.  For those you who have not noticed, Alexander Skarsgård is beautiful to look at.  This work doesn’t do him justice.  Once must see him in action to know what I mean.  Even in photographs his beauty doesn’t truly emerge.  You can click on the image to make it larger.

I promised I Wouldn’t Forget You

The last time I saw my father he was dying of emphysema.  It was two years before he actually passed.  The last thing he said to me was, “Please don’t forget me, Kymm”.  Of course how could a person forget their father.  This is my favorite image of the two of us together.  This is how I like to remember him.  He was healthy and happy.  In 1970 we were living in Gulfport, Florida.

1926 – Gramma as a Young Woman

Posted by kymm on March 22, 2012 in Uncategorized with No Comments

This week I haven’t been working, so I decided to work on a little photo restoration.  This is my maternal grandmother as a young woman in 1926.  This is at 135 Indian Church Road, the home of her adoptive parents.   Her birth name was Bryan, but she was adopted by the Stumpffs before she was five. I love the purse she is holding.  She looks quite fashionable for the day.  My uncle tells me she was raised in a polite upper middle class home, well cared for, with nice clothes and piano lessons.  She reunited with her birth parents after she was married.

There were stains that I removed and played with the contrast.  Actually I jacked the contrast, but I like the effect.  The image was tilted so I decided to straighten it.   I added the deckled frame.  If I could I would add the frame to every image.   I love deckled edges.  The before and after is here so you can see the changes.

It is not pretty, but I had to make myself finish it. I recently got a subscription to the Creative Cloud. So I had to play with Animate. I get really caught up in “getting it right”… so much so that I don’t do it at all. This is a message to myself to just […]

My latest endeavor has been teaching myself to use Illustrator.  As a friend put it, “The pen tool is the devil.”  I decided not to let that discourage me. I decided that I need to create something, anything, so that I would feel that I am getting somewhere with the program.  The colors are weird […]

In December 2009 I house/ pet sat for my aunt and uncle in Dixon California.  I had never been to California. Besides house privileges I also had the use of their Prius.  I was able to travel about quite a bit.  San Francisco, Sacramento, Sausalito, Redwood City, Calaveras County. It was an amazing time that […]

I’ve come to realize that I have been subscribing to Photoshop User magazine since 2009.  I was going through my collection and realized that I still have some of them in the plastic sleeves, never looked at.  Why have something if you are not going to use it.  In the April/May 2009 issue I found […]
